About the Senior Accounting and
Compliance Manager role
The Senior Accounting and Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing all accounting and compliance functions for the IDinsight group, which includes operations in 8+ countries. This is a hands-on role, and the candidate should expect to execute some processes directly, in addition to managing a small team. We anticipate this individual will grow with the organization as we expand our operations worldwide. This position will report to the Finance Director based in Nairobi, Kenya and will also work closely with the various regional and country leaders, the CFO based in the United States, and the Accounting team based in Delhi.
Responsibilities
The Senior Accounting and Compliance Manager’s responsibilities include, but will not be limited to:
People Management
- Directly
manage the accounting and compliance team
- Responsible
for ongoing team performance monitoring and reviews
- Recruit and
develop additional team members as the function grows
Management of the Accounting function
- Own and
ensure implementation of accounting policies and internal controls
- Own the
accounting system, including managing the accounting software and the
chart of accounts
- Ensure
accurate quarterly consolidation of financial results
- Oversee
regular reconciliations of all balance sheet and intercompany
accounts
- Approve /
review journal entries
- Upload
batch reports to the accounting system
- Assist the
team in preparing financial entries and prepare accounting and financial
reports as needed
- Update
internal financial management tools on a monthly basis and review the
integrity of those tools
- Ensure
processes and documentation are in place to support all compliance
requirements
Compliance Strategy
- Ensure that
our organization and operational structure are optimally set-up to
accomplish our mission while minimizing tax and compliance costs where
possible
- Ensure we
are compliant and prepared for any audits that may occur
- Monitor the
impact of ongoing changes in regulation on IDinsight, and respond with
adjustments as necessary
- Liaise with
legal and accounting firms in understanding the main legal strategic
compliance issues that IDinsight entities face, the risks involved, and
measures to be taken to correct those issues
- Manage the
relationship with any compliance related vendors to ensure timely
processing of routine compliance issues and to understand new compliance
issues as they arise
Compliance Execution, Monitoring and Audit
- Coordinate
across multiple functions to ensure compliance and appropriate
documentation
- Act as the
main point of contact for the annual audits in each of IDinsight’s country
offices
- Coordinate
response to tax audits, including acting as the main contact, coordinating
responses from others, and directly participating in preparing and
reconciling information requested for auditors
- Act as the
main point of contact on IDinsight project audits
- Ensure
compliance payments are timely and accurate
Other
- Coordinate
across other functions to ensure compliance related projects and ongoing
actions are completed on a timely basis, including regular tracking and
updates to senior management
- Support
donor and client due diligence needs related to financial compliance
- Support other
global financial, accounting, and related tasks, as and when required
Qualifications
- Bachelor's
degree in Accounting, Commerce, Financial Management, or other relevant
area required. Masters degree in one of the above fields helpful, but not
required.
- Professional
qualification - CPA/ACA/ACCA part II or equivalent required.
- 12+ years
of work experience in accounting and compliance for a mid-size (or larger)
organization
- Experience
managing an accounting team carrying out core accounting functions
- Experience
coordinating and monitoring financial compliance in India
- Experience
with international affiliates and transfer pricing agreements strongly
preferred.
- US GAAP
experience desirable but not required
- Skills and

software)
- Willingness
to take on all kinds of tasks and areas of responsibility, including at
short notice

Nuts and Bolts
Compensation will be dependent on relevant experience and background but will be competitive with similar roles in the social sector. The preferred start date is as soon as possible. Applicants who can start quickly will be prioritized.
