ASSOCIATE, STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS

IDinsight’s Strategic
Communications team seeks an enthusiastic and tenacious full-time
Associate/Senior Associate. You will work with the team to amplify IDinsight’s
impact and improve the use of data and evidence for decision-making worldwide.
The Associate will work with ~40 globally-distributed project teams across
diverse sectors to produce external articles, policy briefs, blog posts, and
website materials to share their project results and learnings with people
across the world.

About the Strategic
Communications Team
Effective communication
is one of our best tools for influencing decisions and is one of our best tools
for improving lives in the communities where we work. Our Strategic
Communications Team amplifies IDinsight’s social impact beyond our direct
client work to enhance the use of evidence for decision-making worldwide.
The communications team
supports our client-facing teams to compose well-crafted communications
strategies and content. Our team shares both critical insights and compelling
stories to inform and influence leaders in the sector including governments,
philanthropies, policymakers, development practitioners, and research and
measurement professionals.
Additionally, the
Strategic Communications team is responsible for all communication and advocacy
platforms and activities including our website, social media presence, public
relations activities, and collateral support. The team works to establish
IDinsight as a go-to resource for decision-focused measurement needs in global
development. The team also coordinates closely with the Fundraising team to
help the organization create content and collateral to engage social sector
donors.
Reporting to the
Strategic Communications Manager, and working with teammates across country
offices, the Strategic Communications Associate will lead and manage a diverse
set of efforts:
- Write and
edit content: The Associate, with support from the
broader Strategic Communications Team, will track, oversee, and guide
project teams to write policy briefs, blog posts, project descriptions,
and other content. The Associate will work with teams to share lessons
with external audiences and develop local and/or global dissemination
strategies.
- Manage all
communication systems: The
Associate will project manage all communication systems that enable our
project teams to amplify their work including website pages, blog posts,
conference tracking, and external publications.
- Dissemination: The
Associate will draft social and traditional media content and facilitate
engagement through the appropriate internal and external communications
channels: website, public blog, internal blog, newsletters, annual
reports, public venues, white papers, traditional media, social media,
etc.
- External
blog and newsletter management: Work with teams to brainstorm, draft,
proofread, upload, and post 3-4 blog posts per month to IDinsight’s
external blog, IDeas. Draft and send IDinsight’s monthly newsletter
highlighting external publications, conferences, and job openings. Develop
and execute strategy to increase the reach of these communications
products.
- Create
content for special projects: Work with project teams to identify key
communications opportunities to collect stories, attend conferences,
and/or support workshops to create content that amplifies IDinsight's
work.

We are currently hiring
for an Associate or Senior Associate with 0-4 years of work experience.
Desired qualifications
include:
- Bachelor’s
degree in a relevant field (e.g., communications, public relations,
international relations);
- Work,
internship, or extracurricular experience in journalism/communications;
- Passionate
about global development and social impact;
- Knowledge
of/experience with microeconomics and program evaluation work;
- International
experience and familiarity with the global international development /
social sector arena, preferably including a period of living a low- or
middle-income country;
- Collaborative
attitude and commitment to “service before self,” demonstrated ability to
work well even with remote team members;
- Ability to
work with international, cross-cultural, and diverse teams
- Organized
and able to independently project manage tasks and systems;
- Demonstrated
ability to operate independently and generatively;
- Strong
writing and editing skills;
- Quick
learner, able to process a large amount of information and pull out the
most important points;
- Self-starter,
flexible and proactive; comfort with ambiguity and dynamic/start-up
environments and workstreams;
- High level
of conscientiousness and attention to detail – finishes work to
completion;
- Two year
minimum commitment (external candidates).

Nuts and Bolts
Location and compensation will be discussed once we locate the right fit teammates for our role. Compensation will be competitive with comparable social sector roles for the given geography, and commensurate with experience and track record. Start dates are flexible, but with a preference for candidates able to begin as early as September 2020. A two-year commitment is expected. Note: This role would be based out of one of our non-US locations.
