Background:

Save the Children, founded in 1919 as a response to the condition in Europe immediately following the First World War, is a federation of 29 members with similar vision, mission, and values for children, working in more than 120 countries to form a truly international movement for children.  Save the Children, Bal Raksha, Bharat (SC BR) is the 28th independent member of the International Save the Children Alliance. Save the Children in India works on 5 core themes: Child Survival, Education, Child Protection, Humanitarian and Disaster and Risk Management in collaboration with the Government, civil society organizations, and the community across 16 states and has reached over 3 million children across India.

Function:

Main function covers Programme Implementation (direct implementation), Thematic Expertise (technical knowledge in pneumonia programming), and Policy & Programme Impact (advocacy, research, monitoring & evaluation, and quality). The function links grass-roots work with policy changes at the highest level, and manages an ecosystem of partnerships including, but not limited to, community organizations, donors, peer organizations, academic institutions, media, and the state. The focus of programme intervention is in two states (Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh) with technical and programmatic expertise necessary for adding capacity to and leveraging the work on the ground.

Role Purpose:

The Assistant Manager - Project, will be responsible for overall implementation of a robust and comprehensive Pneumonia Project VISHVAAS in the district of Tonk (Rajasthan) and Bahraich (Uttar Pradesh) aligned to Save the Children’s Big Idea and organizational strategy 2019-21. The Assistant Manager - Project will play vital role in implementation of the project VISHVAAS under the guidance of Techno Manager and State Project for maintaining systems for project implementation and compliance in line with SC India organizational strategy and guidelines; ensure that all agreement deadlines are met as per the agreed Time Frame / Gantt Chart and district targets are achieved; maintain working relationships with health department and stakeholders; and preparation and submission of narrative and financial reports of the districts on time.

Role & responsibilities (<5):

  • Lead and manage the VISHVAAS Project Management cycle in assigned block from Grant roll out to grant closure in guidance with SC India guidelines and protocols
  • Develop and oversee the project's annual planning and high quality implementation of activities and deliverables to achieve impact within agreed timelines in the assigned block
  • Oversee block project budget and ensure that all financial activity is carried out in accordance with budget allocations,
  • With support from state offices, prepare and submit timely and accurate project and financial, Donor reports through appropriate channels within the organization
  • Act as primary liaison with district health department and key stakeholders at district level, resource and development agencies
  • Ensure that regular assessments, monitoring and evaluation are conducted both against KPIs and to ensure quality of the project implementation. This will be done through frequent field visits with Big Idea Thematic Leads and interactions with all relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Work with cross thematic and functions (Thematic Leads, ACC, PI, Operations) in developing and implementing VISHVAAS Project at district level

Measures of Performance

  • More than 90% of Key Performance Indicators of Pneumonia Project achieved
  • More than 90% Budget Utilization
  • More than 90% coverage of Reach (Direct and indirect)
