Summary
of the Position
This is a professional
position to provide operations expertise and basic product management support
for USP’s upcoming Pharmaceutical Analytical Impurities product line. The
incumbent will be responsible for managing operational aspects of the program, including
coordinating internal resources and vendors to build the SKUs of the product
line and for the flawless execution of orders, working with the business lead
and product manager to maintain inventory levels, working with quality team on
regular updating of operations procedures, developing and reporting metrics
periodically, and play a central role in improving the overall operations
process. The incumbent will work closely with the business unit lead and
product management function within USP.
Roles
and Responsibilities
·
Oversees the operational
aspects related to USP’s upcoming Pharmaceutical Analytical Impurities (PAI)
product line
·
Maintains relationship
with USP-India synthetics team and external suppliers on operational aspects,
working closely to achieve on-time delivery of PAI products and resolves
logistical and other operational bottlenecks
·
Works closely with Data
Strategy and Analytics team, USP’s scientific liaisons, raw material
acquisition team, business unit head, and product management lead to evaluate
and determine new PAI products to be added to the product line
·
Works closely with
business unit head and product management lead to select suppliers, from
approved external suppliers and USP-India synthesis department, for new PAI
products to be added to the product line
·
Coordinates with the
product management lead and different functions at USP to maintain inventory
levels, where applicable, of PAI products, preventing stock-outs
·
Works closely with the
Strategic Customer Development and Customer Experience Team to track and ensure
the positive experience of customers of PAI products
·
Work with the quality
representative to regularly update the operations manual for PAIs
·
Refines cost estimates
and regularizes cost attributes over time as the PAI product line grows and
operational activities are standardized/regularized
·
Reports out the progress
of each order from order placement through to delivery; continuous
improvements; financial status; inventory status; closeness to retest dates of
existing batches of PAI products; customer complaints, and customer insights
biweekly
· Track operational and logistical metrics to identify bottlenecks and recommend solutions for the
bottlenecks·
Monitor dwell times in
each stage of different process flows and make recommendations to continually
improve where needed
Basic
Qualifications
·
MBA or equivalent with a
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or equivalent
·
Four (4) years of
experience in roles that involve rigorous inter-departmental coordination, and
vendor management or managing external contacts
Skills

Experience with creating
reports for management
·
Working knowledge of the
pharmaceutical industry, with basic knowledge on drug substance, drug product,
NDA and ANDA, reference standards and pharmacopeias
·
Good understanding of
basic financial concepts such as revenue, P&L, gross profit, operating
profit, margin
·
Good communication
skills with the ability to articulate and present complex analysis
·
Intermediate to advanced
MS Excel and MS PowerPoint skills
·
Excellent work ethic and
a drive for professional growth
Preferred
Qualifications
·
Minimum of five to seven
years of experience in roles that involve rigorous inter-departmental
coordination, and vendor management
·
Experience with creating
reports for management
·
Excellent conceptual
knowledge on drug substance, drug product, NDA and ANDA, reference standards and
pharmacopeias
·
MBA or equivalent with a
Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry or equivalent
·
Proven application of
basic financial concepts such as revenue, P&L, gross profit, operating
profit, margin
·
Excellent communication
skills with proven ability to articulate and present complex analysis
·
Advanced MS Excel and MS
PowerPoint skills
·
Excellent work ethic and
a drive for professional growth
