About the Role:
 

Vital Strategies will be opening a new company office in India and this role will have responsibility for all financial and fiscal management of the local company operations. The Financial Controller will provide leadership and coordination in the business planning, finance, accounting, forecasting, budgeting, tax, and compliance efforts of the company. About the Senior Accounting and Compliance Manager role

The Senior Accounting and Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing all accounting and compliance functions for the IDinsight group, which includes operations in 8+ countries.  This is a hands-on role, and the candidate should expect to execute some processes directly, in addition to managing a small team.  We anticipate this individual will grow with the organization as we expand our operations worldwide. This position will report to the Finance Director based in Nairobi, Kenya and will also work closely with the various regional and country leaders, the CFO based in the United States, and the Accounting team based in Delhi.

Responsibilities

Job Purpose

To perform regular accounting work as per applicable laws, International Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), MSF India Branch Office financial guidelines maintaining compatibility for books of account for closure for MSF International and for Local compliances.

Key Accountabilities

Recording/Book Keeping

  • Validate and verify sub cost centre, Donation Income reports received daily/ monthly/ yearly and

advice Fundraising (FR) team for updating of their records and issuance of donation receipts.

  • Coordinate with FR team for data & resolution of queries.
  • Check invoices, payroll, statutory payment requests submitted by departments and advice corrections to comply with authorization table/ statutory compliances as and when directed.
  • Ensure appropriate authorization according to Authorization Table.
  • Data entry / import of transactions into Tally/ accounting software in accordance with MSF Chart of Account Codes, International GAAP and applicable laws.
  • Coordinate and resolve issues with Banks.
  • Prepare regular bank reconciliations of multiple bank accounts.
  • Prepare timely reconciliations – Fundraising / Finance and others.
  • Monthly scrutiny of accounting ledgers.
  • Communicate and report any financial irregularities to FO/FM/HOD as may be required.

Cash Flow Management

  • Monitor cash-flow of all legal entities on a regular basis and ensure sufficient funds are available for activities and initiate transfers
  • Timely requests to Head Quarter for invoice payments / fund transfers.
  • Monitoring of entries in the cash & bank books
  • Assess need and purchase of foreign currency
  • Timely payment of invoices, legal and other payments

Compliances (Local statutory)

  • Prepare monthly TDS return data.
