Background:
Save the Children is a leading independent child rights organization that fights for children's rights and delivers immediate and lasting improvement to children's lives worldwide. Save the Children, founded in 1919 as a response to the condition in Europe immediately following the First World War, is a federation of 29 members with a similar vision, mission, and values for children, working in more than 120 countries to form a truly international movement for children.  Save the Children, Bal Raksha, Bharat (SC BR) is the 28th independent member of the International Save the Children Alliance. Save the Children in India works on 5 core themes: Child Survival, Education, Child Protection, Humanitarian and Disaster and Risk Management in collaboration with the Government, civil society organizations, and the community across 16 states and has reached over 3 million children across India.
About the Project
SCBR with the support from GSK is SCBR had implemented WASH project `Healthy School Environment – Every Child’s Right’ in Nashik Corporation schools. The project aims to  reach 9000 children Children, their parents and about 100+ teachers through various Behavior change interventions and development of physical infrastructure in 20 Municipal Corporation Schools on WASH facilities. The one year long interventions have made significant contribution toward the positive behaviors change among project beneficiaries on Health and Hygiene issues. The Nasik Municipal Cooperation also recognized the contribution of GSK- SCI partnership for improving the WASH situation on the selected schools of the district. 

Role Purpose:
Under the overall thematic guidance, the Assistant Manager will be responsible for the implementation, monitoring and measuring all program activities under the project named  “Healthy School Environment- Right of every child -2.0”. The Assistant Manager will act as Save the Children’s advocacy representative to a broad range of external stakeholders including relevant government departments on issues related to Child Rights and Protection. S/he will work in close collaboration with the project team, government officials and other stakeholders.
Role & responsibilities (<5):

Programme Support:
•    With support from senior technical colleagues, carry out WASH assessments in coordination 
•    Implement project as set out in WASH project planning documents, flagging up both successes and risks to senior managers in a timely manner.
•    Support the preparation of WASH programme and donor reports on project activities. 
•    Identify project supplies needs and coordinate with the logistics team to ensure materials arrive in good time.
•    Carry out monitoring and evaluation of project activities as agreed in a monitoring and evaluation framework.
•    Ensure that projects are carried out with participation from all relevant stakeholders, including disaster affected children and their families.
•    To ensure that the minimum standards of humanitarian relief are maintained in accordance with the Sphere Charter 
Representation & Advocacy & Organisational Learning:
•    Participate in Coordination forums at field office level, Nashik Municipal Cooperation officials sharing information from Save the Children programmes.
•    In collaboration with other senior WASH colleagues, participate in feeding in learning, experiences 
General:
•    Deliver results in line with the current proposals and Save the Children’s strategy – to do this in a way which maintains the reputation of the WASH team 
•    Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

Reporting:
Direct (solid-line) to Senior Program Manager - MHSPO
Key relationships: (Internal & External stakeholders) 
Internal Stakeholders (collaborates with): Multi Thematic & multi-functional team at Project Office level
External Stakeholders: Nashik Municipal Coorperation,Education Department; Health Department, Teachers,Principals, SMC members and children

Experience      Required:
•    Minimum 5-8 years of working experience, including minimum 3 years of working in WASH-

related programmes
•    Previous experience of working effectively as part of a WASH project team
•    Commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability
•    Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation 
•    Commitment to capacity building and developing others
•    Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports
•    Excellent communication skills
•    Strong influencing skills
•    Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
•    A high level of written and spoken English 
•    The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.


    
Qualifications
      Post-graduate degree in social sciences/ civil/water engineering or related discipline from a recognized university or college is essential;       weight will be given to candidates having additional qualification & experience on Community Development, Women and Child Welfare, Education etc.

•    Oral and written Language skills in English
•    Experience or knowledge of working and living in relevant regions/contexts
•    Humanitarian programming experience will be
