Job Purpose:

 

To Coordinate the project supported by TESCO the implementation and monitoring the Save the Children’s TESCO Youth Scholarship Programme is to support Bachelors level education of the most deserving and marginalised youth, with a priority to girls, so that they are prepared to break the cycle of poverty in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka States (Respective operational area defined by the donor).

  • Scoping Study
  • Designing of the Scholarship Scheme
  • Finalization of the Scholarship Design
  • Implementation of the scholarship programme:
  • Awareness generation and Career counselling programme:
  • Life skill training for adolescent group
  • Review process and committee
  • Award of scholarship and release of grant
  • Monitoring and Tracking of awardees
  • Automated System
  • Rolling out the System

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Take ownership of the project budget and project cycle management
  • Generate resources and maintain operational costs in order to low cost and high impact
  • Maximize resource generation from existing structure
  • Maintaining and updating database of Project MIS
  • Presentations and discussions with key stakeholders  
  • Coordination with internal & external team members i.e., Project Assistants, Project Finance and other team members/stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage the events and take the ownership to conduct the activities as per the project design.
  • Promote the work of Save the Children – communicating, both internally and externally, in an accurate, sensitive and motivating fashion
  • Ensure that all activities conducted with quality and in the line of project objectives
  • Other responsibilities/duties as required in line with your skills, experience and role

Strategy

  • Support the Manager-Programs – Be the focal person to plan and undertake the Project in specified project location as per the project design and time line
  • Support and strengthening of a project strategy to fulfill the overall project objective and its quality parameters
  • Monitor progress of project objectives and help measure impact objectively by using a quality MIS.
  • Coordinate with College Management & Government departments at State & District level to make progrmme a success and establish linkages to understand the scholarship provisions for the students to understand and prevent the duplication of scholarship for the identified students from supplier.
  • Undertake frequent visits to the colleges to monitor the students on their continuity of enrolled student education and ensure their attendance to maximizing the utilization of the scholarship
  • Facilitate required counselling for the students and to facilitate meetings between college management and students to resolve if any challenges
  • Recommending the scholarship for a particular student after verifying the necessary documents and certificate provided by the college management for ensuring the documentation of each student
  • Develop and monitor the robust MIS system to understand the needs of the student/documenting his profiles, fee structure and necessary documentation before and after completing the course
  • Documentation of best case studies for sharing with donor and to publish in internal journals
  • Adhering all financial norms and procedures of Save the Children
  • Responsible for collation and documentation of all reports and materials being produced by the team.
  • Also responsible for maintenance of reports and other relevant documents.
  • Maintain contacts and network with other development agencies working in the region, and seek their support / cooperation while implementing the project
  • Under taking monthly reviews to assess the progress and to make necessary plans for meeting the expectations of the project and donor.
  • Preparation and sharing of Monthly and Quarterly and reports as per the donor requirement to SPO as per the time lines.
  • Undertake appropriate additional responsibilities as assigned by the line manager

 

Process:

  • Ensure that all activities and partnerships under the project are fully compliant with systems and procedures of Save the Children and of our partners, as applicable.
  • Ensure timely submission of internal reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual) and all donor reports, as required.
  • Ensure compliance with SC BR’s policies and practices, including the Child Safeguarding Policy.
  • Facilitate organization of various workshops as mandated under the project with quality focus and proper documentation.
  • Contribute to development of innovative models and good practices under the projects 
  • Ensure effective coordination with Programme, Advocacy & Policy and other functions as required for exchange of information and work needs

 

Others:

  • Promote the work of Save the Children – communicating, both internally and externally, in an accurate, sensitive and motivating fashion
  • Understand and be an advocate, internally and externally, for the values of Save the Children
  • Ensure that all activities comply with applicable law at all times, including compliance with data protection legislation
  • Other ad hoc duties as required in line with your skills, experience and role
  • Undertake and accept any additional responsibilities entrusted by the supervisor

Experience

At least 6-7 years’ experience in managing/coordinating /development projects, including at a representational level  (preferably  Education and Scholarship management  projects)

 

 

Minimum 6 years of experience in Development projects /working NGOs

 

Qualifications

 

  • Post Graduate in social sciences/relevant disciplines with strong field experience in rural/integrated development programmes/Experience in networking with government departments will be an added advantage
  • Has excellent documentation/reporting skills
  • Good working knowledge of computers
  • Good communication skills
  • Team player
