Project Manager – Ecotechnology

The M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) was established in 1988 as a not- for-profit trust. MSSRF was envisioned and founded by Professor M. S. Swaminathan. The Foundation aims to accelerate the use of modern science for agricultural and rural development through the development and dissemination of technology to improve the lives and livelihoods of tribal and rural communities. MSSRF follows a pro-poor, pro- women, and pro-nature approach and applies appropriate science and technology options to address practical problems faced by rural populations in agriculture, food, and nutrition.

Job Description

In MSSRF, at the Ecotechnology Programme Area undertakes multi-sectoral, interdisciplinary projects supported by diverse funding sources including FCRA-funded initiatives, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects, and Government-funded programmes, PFMS Projects. These projects span eight sites across India: Puducherry, Villupuram, Pudukottai, Thiruvaiyaru, Kannivadi, Vadugapatti, Ganjam, and Aurangabad. Each funding agency brings distinct financial and administrative compliance requirements, making effective project management critical for operational success.

Key Responsibilities:
Project Financial Management 
Extend support to monitor expenditure in alignment with funder-specific guidelines.
Provide necessary support to prepare and submit financial reports, including reimbursable cost claims, PFMS uploads, and donor-specific documentation.
Ensure timely documentation and submission of bills, vouchers, and related compliance materials.

Administrative support
Facilitate team for ERP entries on transactions, purchase requisitions, and inventory management.
Coordinate logistics and procurement processes in accordance with organizational and donor protocols.

Operational Coordination
Support the Programme Area Head in planning, tracking, and reviewing field activities and outputs.
Assist in compiling and reviewing monthly/annual staff work plans and progress reports.

Stakeholder Liaison
Coordinate with finance, procurement, administration, and field teams to ensure smooth project execution.
Serve as a liaison between site offices and the central office for operational updates and support.

Other Duties
Carry out additional tasks or responsibilities as assigned by the Programme Area Head.

Qualifications and Skills: Prior exposure to donor-funded projects (FCRA/CSR/Government) and familiarity with PFMS and ERP systems is highly desirable.
Proficiency in MS Office and accounting software.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and across multi-location teams.

Essential Qualification
Graduate/Postgraduate degree – MSW or Bachelor’s in Management, Commerce, Economics, Public Administration, or related field.
Experience desirable
Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in project financial management and administrative coordination.
