Glaciers=In the Himachal Himalayas, there are number of glaciers. which Are playing an important role as a renewing source of fresh water for the millions of people living in the plains of northern and eastern India .In summer, large quantities of water melt from the glaciers and flow down the rivers and streams draining the Himalayas .fresh snow is added to the glaciers during the winters .the prominent glaciers, which are located in Himachal Pradesh are given below:

1 Bara Shigri: the Bara Shigri glacier is the largest glaciers in the Chandra valley of Lahaul and difficult to be trekked. It is tenanted in Acirque on the middle slopes of the main Himalayas range. Small tributary glaciers feed the trunk glaciers. High mountains cover it from three sides. It is about 3 km wide and km long.
2         Chandra: This glacier is responsible forming Chandertal Lake and has originally separated from                                   Bara Shigri glacier. It is tenanted in a cirque of the towering peak.
3        The lady of Keylong: This glacier is situated at in altitude of about 6061 m, which can be seen from Keylong and is popular among the visitors. It is interesting to note that it was named by lady
Elashainghday about A century ago during British raj.
4        Mukila: The Mukila glacier of Bhaga valley is situated at the height of about 6478 m.
5      Bhaga: This glacier if tenanted in an amphitheater in Lahaul area of the main Himalayan range .it is a source of Bhaga River and later Mersges with Chandra forms Chenab after Tandi
6      Sonapani: The Sonapani glacier was surveyed by walker and Pascoe in 1906. It is only about five and a half km from the confluence of Kulti Nala. It is visible from the Rohtang pass.
7       Perad:  The Perad glacier is a small easily accessible near Putiruni, which in local dialect means broken rock, that has a nice cave too.
8       Mukkila and Miyar: Mukkila and Miyar glaciers located in the Lahaul area are about 12 km length. They pour water to Bhaga and Miyar rivulets respectively.   Mukkila is situated at the height of about 6478 km m.
9    Dudhon and Parbati:  Dudhon Parbati glaciers impart water for Pārbati stream each are about 15 km of length.
10    Bease kund:  this glacier is located on the south facing Slopes of the towering Pir Panjal range near the conspicuous Rohtang pass in Manali region of Himachal Pradesh.
11     Bhadal:  it is located on the south western slopes of the Panjal range in the Bara Banghal region of Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh.

12    Chandra Nahan   :  This glacier is located in a small amphitheater on the south eastern slopes of the main Himalayan range in the area North West Rohru in Himachal Pradesh.
